CONCLUSION
SLT Foods has big potential to
conquer the food market even more and to grow, but they need improvements. In
our visit and interview, we focused on order fulfillment and conclude that the
activities of placing an order and picking and pack could be more efficient.
The good thing is that the managers are aware that improvements are necessary,
and they have started implementing some changes. The first change was to build
their own software and integrate departments, the second was to create a role
for inventory management. For further improvement, we recommend that the
company create a sales website, where the customer could place their orders without
any interference. That would bring increased order visibility and accuracy. We
also recommend that the company invest in a barcode inventory system, which
would automate the picking activity and would eliminate duplicate entries in
the system. Lastly, we advised on key performance indicators, as a way for the
company to track their improvements and if any changes are necessary. We
believe that SLT Foods' processes would be more efficient and effective after
implementing these recommendations.
